Here’s a scary scene: Company ABC has approximately 50K mobile phones in its fleet. About 5K of those lines aren’t being used, however, these lines are still being paid for, and so begins the saga of the phantom phone that killed the telecom bill.
It’s not quite a Halloween horror flick, but Amtel (News - Alert), Inc. says these eerie stats comprise about 10 percent of a telecom bill, and when it comes to telecom expense management, that’s money that could be better used for the bottom line. On the enterprise level, this means an annual loss of $3.6 million. Yes, $3.6 million for phones that aren’t even providing some sort of use.
So, how do you “kill” the phantom from within? Who are you going to call? A service provider offering a telecom expense management solution.
Telecom expense management isn't about this technology or that service. It's about bringing real, measurable and sustainable benefits business communication costs. It’s about pulling all of this together into a manageable whole. TEM takes into account call accounting, invoice validation, contract management and performance management, usually in one solution.
For a small company, it can be as simple as checking over a phone bill every month to make sure needles services aren’t being billed out. For larger companies, it is a more formal program to optimize spending on telecom services. Most of the attention goes to bill auditing and getting refunds for billing errors, but an effective TEM program can do more than that.
Both software and outside experts can help reduce time through systematized processes, reduce costs through error identification, reduce risks through better reporting options and increase control. And yes, solutions can even identify the phantom drifters that eat up money that could be otherwise allocated for better purposes.
Considering the importance of telecommunications in the operation of daily business, TEM is a critical business strategy.
Avoid the horror story of an exponentially high bill through TEM and optimize business efficiency, achieve global visibility of their communications, maintain complete security and enable proactive cost management.
