Bring your own device (BYOD) and enterprise mobility aren’t going anywhere. According to one report, the global BYOD and enterprise mobility market is anticipated to spike from $67.21 billion in 2011 to $181.39 billion in 2017. You carry an enormous amount of personal data on your mobile and tablet devices, including contacts, e-mails, passwords, photos and even financial information. Cybercriminals target all of that data through malware, online scams and theft, putting both your device and your personal data at risk. If you’re already having some issues with mobile security threats, the time to face them is now.
Webroot Inc, a provider of security solutions that protect personal information and corporate assets from online and internal threats, and SOTI Inc., a provider of mobile device management (MDM) solutions, are joining together to combine Webroot’s security intelligence and secure Web browsing capabilities into SOTI’s MDM solution, MobiControl V10.
MobiControl enables organizations to centrally manage, support, secure and track corporate-liable and employee liable mobile devices, regardless of device type, mobile platform and location. The integration of Webroot and SOTI extends security capabilities in mobile environments, offering features such as Web filtering, real-time antivirus and malware protection, helpdesk suite, telecom expense management and secure content library.
Customers can avoid “bill shock” by keeping tabs on mobile voice and data usage. With MobiControl V10, users can monitor voice and data usage, set thresholds and prevent nasty roaming surprises by alerting on overages.
“Today the endpoint is the perimeter of the enterprise network. Protecting that network and the data within it along with an increasingly mobile workforce must be a priority for IT managers, and with MobiControl V10 and Webroot they can do that without sacrificing other priorities,” said Dick Williams, Webroot’s CEO, in a statement.
Webroot offers mobile and tablet security for Android (News - Alert) and iOS devices, providing a feature-rich Web browser to confidently browse, shop and bank online. Its URL filtering technology for iOS lets you know if the site is safe to enter while blocking users from entering malicious websites. Search results from Google (News
- Alert), Yahoo, Bing, and Ask will be annotated accordingly with safe, unknown or known threats reputation marks. For Android, you can lock, wipe and even locate your device when it gets lost.
