The ever-increasing use of mobile devices, the Internet and corporate networks has compelled organizations to manage and monitor their communications spend more closely than ever as the cost of delivering these networks—already one of the top five corporate expenses—increases. Telecom expense management solutions like the one offered by Emptoris, a company within IBM (News - Alert) that provides strategy supply management solutions, manages the full mobile and network-related lifecycle to deliver immediate impact to any business.
Network Control, a California-based telecommunications management corporation, has joined the Telecom Expense Management Industry Association (TEMIA (News - Alert)), the authoritative voice for telecommunications management, telecom expense management, wireless expense management and mobile device management.
TEMIA members manage more than $31 billion of wireless, voice and data telecom spend. The association’s mission is to raise awareness and knowledge of the values and benefits of telecom expense management, wireless expense management and mobile device management solutions, as well as to improve the quality and value of these solutions through the development and promotion of open industry standards.
“Joining TEMIA is another piece to this ever evolving industry that is necessary in order to assure industry standards, practices and fair marketing practices,” stated Mark Hearn, CEO and president of Network Control, in a statement. “Over the last few years there has been a lot of consolidation and changes in the marketplace. TEMIA will foster best practices that organizations are expecting of TEM Solutions (News - Alert) Providers. It is time for buyers to look beyond marketing slicks and promises of huge savings. With TEMIA, we seek to market and support open and honest communication in order to assure successful client engagements.”
In today’s cost-conscious environment, enterprises are actively seeking expertise from providers to manage mobile and fixed telecom expenses. The market keeps growing as more organizations learn about the opportunity to improve supply chain management for telecom expenses and reduce their costs through optimizing inefficient processes.
Network Control has more than 14 years of experience with IT services, carriers’ billing and capabilities and how to navigate the corporate layers of bureaucracy. Its telecom expense management solution audits invoices against all contracts and amendments, eliminates accounts payables work with electronic allocation files and assures that proper rates and fees are assigned to new services and accounts.
“I welcome Network Control and Mark Hearn’s 25 years of industry experience,” stated Joe Basili, managing director for TEMIA. “Mr. Hearn joins principals at other firms who will help shape the industry through their integrity, dedication, and commitment. We are pleased to have him and Network Control join TEMIA. New members bring different experiences and points of view, but they come together with other TEMIA members. This demonstrates the power of collaboration for the betterment of customers to maximize their return on investment in TEM, mobility, MDM and related areas of Telecommunications Management.”
TEMIA recently began promoting the adoption of “telecommunications management” as a new broad umbrella term to describe the industry. The new phrase is meant to convey all the activities enterprises manage as part of overseeing their mobile and fixed telecommunications network. It includes visibility into communications services, cost control with telecom expense management, wireless expense management, mobile device management, data and device security and other activities.
