With Globitel’s Bill Shock Prevention solution, Zain (News
- Alert) Jordan hopes to equip its subscribers with all the necessary tools so they are able to control their data roaming expenses. Globitel is a provider of roaming, VAS and customer care solutions.
Zain Jordan introduced GSM mobile services and employed a far-sighted policy of investment in adopting cutting edge technology to provide state of the art services to clients, and investment in community development through the most active and substantive corporate social responsibility (CSR (News - Alert)) program.
The increase in smartphone usage has led to the huge surge in transfer of content or data over the network and users are also demanding high speed data connections which are straining cellular networks. While local network usage is controlled via data packages, roaming usage still results in prohibitive costs.
Users unaware of the complications involved in using the network while roaming are often subjected to Bill Shock – an industry term that refers to the unpleasant surprise some customers experience on receiving their mobile phone bills after traveling. This leads to the subscriber drastically reducing their usage of data roaming, or even churning to competitor networks.
Fadi Qutaishat, VP of sales and marketing at Globitel (News - Alert) commented, “Bill Shock Prevention provides telecom operators with a valuable tool to eliminate the fear of bill shock for their subscribers when using data services abroad. Protection against data roaming bill shock is a useful step towards building customers’ confidence and loyalty with subscribers.”
Bill shock resulting from the data roaming of users creates bad press and affects CSPs’ ability to enter the mobile data mass market even in their home networks. Globitel claimed that its Bill Shock Preventer comes to rectify these challenges.
The solution is stated to be beneficial to both customers and operators. For customers, Bill Shock Preventer keeps monthly bill under control, delivers spending alerts which increases customer manageability and lets customers set higher or lower limits for data consumption at any time while roaming. For operators, the solution improves customer experience and helps them to be more aware of its customers’ preferences, increases loyalty, reduces churn and enhances customer satisfaction and encourage subscribers to use data services while roaming.
