IT services provider Dimension Data (News - Alert) announced it has acquired Xigo, a provider of telecom expense management (TEM) solutions, as part of its strategy to become a full-fledged Managed Communications Service Provider.
Both Dimension Data and Xigo have been partners for over five years. In 2010, the companies signed a global partnership agreement to offer, which they claim as the industry’s first “localized global telecom expense management solution.”
This partnership, according to Dimension Data officials, is also expected to enable the company to offer an integrated cost optimization solution for spend analysis, sourcing, provisioning and invoice processing.
"Companies look to Dimension Data to support their entire IT infrastructure and ensure the best utilization of their investments,” said Steve Joubert, group executive of global solutions at Dimension Data, in a statement. “The acquisition of Xigo is a perfect complement, as it extends this capability beyond integration and management of technology.”
Following the acquisition, Dimension Data will focus on increasing Xigo’s U.S. market share and prepare it to serve global organizations. The company will expand Xigo’s cloud-based TEM services to other countries over time.
Xigo clients operating outside North America will leverage Dimension Data’s global footprint spanning 51 countries to expand their business. Dimension Data’s experience in planning, building and operating IT infrastructures for multinational corporations will be an added benefit to these companies.
According to Joubert, telecom expense management has grown to encompass the entire lifecycle of telecommunication services, including inventory and asset management, ordering and provisioning.
“As clients evolve their networks to address globalization, mobile device proliferation, virtualization and the cloud, Xigo will be instrumental to helping them implement the most cost-effective roadmaps and architectures for both internal and external communications," Joubert added.
Earlier in November, Xigo announced that it has expanded the international reach of its full-service fixed and mobile Telecom Expense Management solution, Xigo Enterprise that can capture all of an organization's billing, inventory and usage data in a single cloud-based platform, providing a unified view of all voice, data and mobile expenses.
